Did your grinder come apart? THIS IS NORMAL! Especially if you use a back and forth grinding technique. They are specifically made to come apart to clean them. To keep this from happening in the future grind in one direction and tighten down the nut before each use. Here is a graphic to show you how the parts go back in place.
Another tip to keep your grinder working great please store it in a dry place (never above your stove where steam can rehydrate the ingredients). If your grinder does get gunky it can be washed with warm soapy water, just make sure it is really dry before refilling. Also, your grinder will always work best fully loaded. If some straggling ingredients aren’t grinding, it is not a faulty grinder…It is time to order a refill! Which you can do here.
If your spices are coming out too fine or too coarse you can adjust the coarseness, just turn the “winged nut thingy” located inside the grinder cap, but be careful to not over tighten. Righty tighty (more fine), lefty loosey (more coarse).
Feel free to contact us at molly@mollysmills.com if you have any additional questions. We want your grinder to be working great, if you feel it has failed in a premature amount of time please email us with a description of the problem and photos of the grinding mechanism. We have lots of replacement parts on hand. Please be reasonable with your requests…for example we’ve literally had someone ask for a free replacement after placing their grinder in the oven and melting it completely. While we did help out the oven person; please try to remember we are a tiny farmers market based business, not Amazon.
